A real page turner—I was glued to this book from start to finish and can’t wait to read the next two books in the series. It’s set in a futuristic society—part high tech and part medieval. Two young people are selected every year from each of twelve outlying districts surrounding the Capital to compete in the Hunger Games. The Games are staged for the amusement of the Capital hierarchy and their fellow countrymen and are a fight to the death. It’s all covered on TV and if the Game isn’t gruesome enough, the Gamemakers put in obstacles to make it more ‘entertaining’ for the viewers. It’s “Survivor” television, taken to the next level.
