Ehhhh it was ok. I do not particularly like Rick Bragg, seems a bit cocky to me. He says its a testament to his mother, but only the first 1/3 is about her and the rest is him bragging about his accomplishments and self-deprecatingly talking about how immature he is. I feel like the popular opinion is if you discredit this book on the merits of its writing and development you are discrediting the story of mother, but that is definitely not the case. She was interesting but not fully developed as a character and I feel like other than establishing that she sacrificed for her children Bragg did not talk about her as a person much at all.
