Shadow is finishing up his jail time & can't wait to return to his quiet life and his wife. Shadow's life spins out of control when he learns that she's been killed in a terrible accident.

Shadow soon finds himself in the presence of a god and gets wrapped up in a war between old gods and new gods.

A surreal and often confusing novel, this is Gaimen's most ambitious book yet. Though it doesn't feel as tightly put together as some of his other novels, he delivers thought-provoking and powerful messages about our culture and modern way of life.
