Brandon Grode This was awesome. M is for Magic had a couple selections that were the same - but as a collection, might have been even stronger than Smoke and Mirrors. This might be (for me) because of the mixed forms (short story / poetry) seemed a little jarring. If it were broken up by stories and then poems, I might have enjoyed the flow a little more. I guess it's because I get into a story mindset when i'm reading stories, and poetry mindset when reading poetry. When you mix them together - with some longer short stories especially, it's a little awkward. Still, there were some great pieces in here. And I even enjoyed the forward section, where Gaiman writes a little background on each of the following stories. But I'd definitely read this side-by-side with M is for Magic. They are brothers of a sort.

Rachel Any favorite stories? This is the book with the eating babies story, isn't it?

Brandon Grode Yes! It is. It's really really short.

Rachel that does not answer my question about which stories you liked best :P

Brandon Grode one of my faves was We Can Get Them for You Wholesale, which Gaiman steals the name for Phil K. - but it's unrelated to that tale. I was listening to it during Left 4 Dead 2...and those two fit so snugly next to each other, i started laughing out loud.

Brandon Grode I'd suggest reading that one without wiki'ing it - as the effect is much stronger.

Rachel What do you mean? Which one? I've already read both.

Brandon Grode We Can Get Them for You Wholesale.

I didn't know you read em both already!
