it was amazing
bookshelves: realistic-fiction, young-adult-7th-12-grade, post-2001

Twelve year old Catherine just wants to live a normal life, but is impossible because her younger brother, David, has autism and her family devotes majority of their attention toward him. Catherine tries to teach David rules to counteract his embarrassing behavior, like taking his pants off in public. She is trying to cope with the idea that he's never going to be normal and act as if everything is normal in her world. Also, Catherines summer has just begun and has become friends with Jason who is in a wheelchair and cannot speak, but Catherine is hesitant to talk about him to her new neighbor Krisiti, because she is trying to impress Krisiti so she would be her friend as well. Recommened for upper middle and high school readers, 7th through 12th grade, especially students who have siblings with disabilities. Published 2006.
