Angel Eyes isn’t going to be for everyone. I really liked it, but I am also a fan of Christian fiction.
The story itself was a pretty cool use of theology and angels. Brielle is having a bad year. She was away at school when her best friend was killed. Unfortunately, Brielle feels like she is to blame. She doesn’t want to dance anymore (she is a ballerina), and she can’t cope with being at school so she moves back home. Her dad is amazingly supportive, and she actually realizes it. Then there is the new guy at school. Brielle is definitely attracted to him but does she really want to get involved with anyone? She is still hurting and although Jake (the new guy) seems great, she just isn’t sure. She’s still grieving.
Towards the end of the book, the plot gets a little intense. Not necessarily in a bad way, but you really have to pay attention or you could get lost. All the story lines start coming together and the story resolves itself nicely.
Overall this was a good book, but you have to be open to having religion and theology as an important part of the story.
I received an advanced reading copy of this book through netgalley (dot) com.
