I found this book to be very timely - with Warren Jeffs in the news and the HBO series Big Love (which I watch) currently on the air. It was a very interesting dive into Mormonism and the question of Plural Marriage - and it's effects on the women, children and even the men itself.

It goes back and forth between the story of Ann Eliza - the 19th wife of Brigham Young, who divorces him, and ultimately contibutes to the end of plural marriage in Mormon religion in America and the story of a murder. The 19th wife of a current day man in a "Firsts" sect in Utah is accused of shooting her husband, and her son, a "Lost Boy" - boys who are kicked out of these sects by the Prophet, goes back to investigate the murder.

Ultimately, I really enjoyed the book, although the one criticism I had is that I would have liked more of the mystery part and less of the history part.
