The style is obnoxious, and the authors are disgustingly smug, but I can try to look past that. What I couldn't really get over was the idea that it's up to one person to deal with their emotions, and communicate well, and so on. So if someone takes these lessons to heart and goes off to find other people, it's like either those other people need to already be on the same page, or need to read this book. Communication and relationships are inherently about reciprocity (http://xkcd.com/1028/, y'all) and knowing what you want and how you feel? not helpful if other(s) in a relationship aren't. (Also not always possible - people are complicated and messy and not always in control, and that's a-okay!) The attitude that "I know how to do this right, and you should learn and be awesome like I am" is condescending at best and caustic at worst, and I cannot help but feel this is what this book's got it running through its veins.
