Really interesting account of the musicians who played on thousands of pop songs between the early 1960's and mid-1970's. Guys like Hal Blaine, Glen Campbell, Leon Russell, Tommy Tedesco, and Carol Kaye. These musicians were the best in the business at that time and were hired to provide the music for so many of the popular groups and artists of the time. Hartmann does a great job researching the lives of several of the most important musicians and telling stories about their work with Brian Wilson, Phil Spector, Sonny Bobo, and so many more.
