This book talks about little Camilla who really loves lima beans. However, she wants to impress her friends so she pretends she hates them. Stripes, branches, patterns, and branches begin growing from Camille until that little old lady appears at their door. She gives Camilla some lima beans and she is back to normal. This book would be great to read for the first day of school and for a math and science lesson about colors and how these colors are made. This book can also be used to discuss changes in the properties of matter for a second grade class.

Christi Many uses for this book- It is great to teach transitioning between and within ideas when writing. The rich vocabulary also makes for a great way to introduce some words that may be new to students.
