I find my self more and more sucked into this fantasy world. The writing style flows nicely. The plot and political intrigues continue to thicken, amongst the humans themselves, and the humans and aliens. I even rather enjoyed that major battle scene which used Roman legion tactics. If you want to get hooked on a fantasy series with characters you care about, start with Butcher's first book, "The Furies of Calderon". The characters age and develop as time passes, so chronological order is the only way to go. So far, each book is better than it's predecessor.
