it was ok

The story of a young Brooklyn mother of two who gets pregnant with a third by accident, loses her sh*t, and takes off to find people and places from her past. The plot contains no surprises--everything unfolds exactly the way you think it will on page one. The dialogue is weaker than the plot; characters either recap what we've already learned in exposition, or say things that in real life would result in broken friendships and tears, but in the novel have no effect. But there's lots of grim truth-telling about motherhood, and a couple of impassioned rants that I tore through in horrified fascination. I couldn't put down this flawed book.
