Prague Fatale

Bernie Gunther, private detective, digs deep into the crimes that most police enforcers wouldn't dare upset anyone who is Nazi. Gunther has a habit of upsetting the power to be (Nazi) in bringing justice to the victim.
In Prague Fatale, the story starts out with a murder of a Dutch railroad worker. When another murder was presented to Gunther, he was able to place the pieces that the two murders were connected but how they are connected eluded him.
Since his reputation proceeded him, Gunther is forced accept an invitation from the head of the SS, Reichsprotector Reinhard Heydrich. When one of his adjutant was killed, Heydrich forced Gunther to find the assassin(s). Heydrich believed that he was the target and that his adjutant was killed instead. Gunther pushed and offended every Nazi officers staying at Heydrich's castle to solve the crime in 48 hours.
I like the story since not many people know what it is to be German especially in Nazi German. Those who are not in the Nazi party do not received special treatment. All Nazi are given special priviledges to food and resources. In Nazi German, Gunther has to be careful of who he can trust. Being unknowingly associated with the wrong person could have you arrested.
