This book was brilliant in many ways! It was not at all what I expected. I expected something that would read like a story, so I was initially disappointed. Instead, it read like a biography. Basically, it's the story of Abraham Lincoln's life and just also happens to include sections of him being a vampire hunter. It's told from his perspective (in journal form) as well as the perspective of the author (who is "compiling" his journals and telling the story). However, once I got into the biography-type pattern, I did enjoy it and appreciated learning more about this former president.

I do think a major problem with this book was its treatment of slavery (basically, the premise is that slaves were brought to America as food for vampires). That seemed insensitive and inappropriate to me. So, while I did think it was well-written and a good idea, I don't know if I could recommend it for that fact.
