i love george carlin. he was my favourite comedian for many years, and got me through high school sane. this book however was a bit of a dissapointment.

while carlin is brilliant on stage, his words loose the edge when presented in this format.

i read bill hicks' 'love all the people' recently, and while carlin is arguably more entertaining than hicks on stage, his words are not as profound and stimulating when they lack his stage persona and charm.

his classic rants about government and religion are still funny, though mainly because you remember they way he told them on stage, while his short takes and bits are just random, vulgar thoughts which are bereft of depth and, frankly, not funny.

i love carlin, but in future i will buy his dvd's or look hum up on youtube
