The Duke of Ainsley has always had feelings for Lady Jayne Seymour, but she is married to his cousin Walfort. A carriage accident has left Walfort a cripple and unable to father children. He talks Ainsley and Jayne into spending a month together in the hope of producing a child.

I have mixed feelings about the plot of this book. Although Ainsley and Walfort are cousins, I couldn’t believe that a Duke would actually father a child in this manner, no matter how much guilt he felt. As a duke he has an obligation to produce an heir, which makes it strange and unlikely that he would agree to this proposition.

The actual writing was fine, and I had no problem with the pace. The author did a wonderful job with the character emotions. Some readers will enjoy Waking Up With The Duke, but I couldn’t suspend my disbelief when it came to the plot.
