In introductory notes to Soyinka essay "Why Do I Fast?" inThe Art of the Personal Essay: An Anthology from the Classical Era to the Present, editor Phillip Lopate mentions this memoir. The essay, about S's experience fasting in protest of his imprisonment, was so good that I'm eager to read more by him.
