It was very interesting. I didn't read any of the forward stuff. Maybe I will another time. That way I know who each of the characters are representing.
It also peaked my curiosity about the Russian revolution and how it actually happened. (not just reading about the transition from a fictional point of view.)
I liked this book because it made me emotional, Angry at Napoleon and his manipulation. Pity for the animals who were working hard for a goal that they could never reach with such a nasty leader. Outrage at the bold face lies that were being told. Devastation, when the animals found out the truth in the end.
I really liked the ending sentence. For me it really just summed up the book: The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
