A classic biography; so raw, it definitely captures the essence of the man; this book left a mark on me when I saw how rigid a society can get with "conventional wisdom" and all it takes is a few people (even in anger) to realize that EVERYONE else is seeing things wrong... and that one idea can spawn a revolution. Cliched I know, but this book SHOWS it happening (through Malcolm's life), it doesn't TELL it. A valuable read not just to learn the ideas that spawned the civil rights movement, but valuable to see personal transformation; As Malcolm X did toward the end.. which cost him his life at the hands of people who were supposed to be his allies.
