Amazing! The author, journalist Harden has pieced together Shin Dong-hyuk's story in a way that makes sense of a life brutalised. Harsh, inhumane and confronting and the hardest part of the story was that the labour camps of North Korea still exist today. It will be interesting to see what unfolds now that 'Dear Leader' is dead - is North Korea a country set for change? Would recommend this for prescribed reading in high schools/colleges. I have read it alongside Orphan Master's Son (fiction) and have found them both gripping and fascinating.
