Library director and would-be investigator Mira is hired to investigate the hunting accident that ended the life of a local businessman and philanthropist. His daughter is sure that more is involved than a mistake on the part of his best friend, who fired the shot that killed him. But nobody wants to take to Mira about the roots of the crime, that lie buried in the past. This is rather darker than others in the series.
