I have mixed feelings about this book. This is purely an adventure book. And the adventure was really fun and good. I wanted to know what happened; how did the quest get resolved all the problems along the way. On the other hand, the character development pretty shallow, which isn't really surprising and I've read worse. But I'm a character-driven reader so when I would put the book down I really wasn't all that motivated to pick it up again even though I wanted to know how the plot and story got resolved I didn't really care for the most part what actually happened to the characters.

I did love all the allusions and tie-ins to all the great classic adventure books, myths, and legends. The story was written very well and intelligently.

In the end, I do recommend it. It was quite a fun read and the very last page made it even more worth it! I'll probably read the rest in the series too.
