Someone gave this book to my son, and we read it once and then I dropped it in the library return box (though it wasn't a library book) so we won't have to read it again. The moral of this story is appalling. The fish is beautiful, with shimmery, rainbow-colored scales, but lonely. In order to make friends, he starts giving away his scales (which I can only imagine must be painful and potentially disfiguring), until he looks exactly like every other fish in the sea. Hel-LO?! What kind of a message is that for impressionable kiddos? No way!
