** spoiler alert ** Read this right after 'The Rotter's Club', and found it a disappointment in comparison. Maybe it’s the fact that all the characters are so focused on the past and they have almost photographic memories of minor events that happened 30 years ago - I think Coe probably has an extensive timeline that he referred to quite a lot while writing this. And the vaguely creepy twist at the end about Malvina being Ben's daughter, yet still willing to go out with (uncle) Paul? Weird. I still enjoyed 'The Closed Circle', but really only because I was so curious about the characters.
