it was amazing

Big fan of T.C. Boyle's short stories, but hadn't really enjoyed the few novels of his I read. That changed with Tortilla Curtain.

An excellent "social" novel, in that it explores through realistic characters and situations the type of thinking that goes on among all sides of the (illegal) immigration issue that's been such a hot-button topic for the last decade or so. Boyle is really adept at description and creating vivid scenes. The story engaged me straightaway and I had a hard time putting this one down.
