I never really knew much about Marilyn Monroe until I read this book. Since she's been the subject of a bunch of new TV shows and movies, I thought I would check out her autobiography. And I loved what I found inside. She had an extremely hard life: her mother was unstable, and she was bumped around from foster home to foster home, until she married someone she didn't love at age 16...only to divorce him and become a struggling and starving actress that the movie executives never really liked. But the simplicity and earnestness with which she wrote about it was endearing. She was also insightful and wise: I was repeatedly struck by the observations in her book. It made me realize she was a lot more than the "dumb blonde" roles she was relegated to in the movies.

Sue I'm watching the new tv show Smash, which is partially about Marilyn Monroe, and I realized I didn't know anything about her. So I checked out her autobiography.
