3.5 stars Liked this one overall, though I wish some things had been fleshed out a little better. Also, if you're going to have a pet jaguar, I think you should at least ride him at some point. I would!

Not too far in just yet, Soumi, but it's actually surprisingly intriguing. I'm guessing we'll have to suspend some disbelief, but that's normal in a book like this.
Wow....I guess I have to hold my interesting till the book release, which is really late in October, but I will be waiting for further update from you
She can't be killed, her skin is impenetrable, she performs fast/well, etc., etc. She's kind of reactionary so far, but I like the science-y setting. Fingers crossed it's good!
wow..that's kind of quality I would like to have, i mean who doesn't. The Sci-Fi experimental lab and deep forest of amazon, sounds cool too
It is pretty cool, Soumi. It's a nice surprise after reading BETA.How far along are you, Stephanie? I'm slightly confused by something.

I just started. So only about 2% in.
You always find the cool toys. :-) I really like the blurb on this one ... will be excited to hear what you think when you finish it!
I really liked the cool jungle vibe of the book, Jen--and I wasn't expecting it to have so many science-y aspects, which is good! Some other things could have been stronger, but I liked it overall. :)
Can't wait to hear what you think! I have an author interview coming up and the book seems really good!
I know, I thought it was going to be a series for sure! But I'm happy to discover it seems to be a standalone.
I hope so. I need to try and request it from the publisher. I think the concept sounds great and I'm happy about a standalone book for once.
Good, I hope you get a copy, Daphne. There's a lot of ground covered in this one--it's not perfect by any means, but it's clear she put a lot of research into it.And yes, hurray for standalones! I was surprised by that too, Ceilidh. For a standalone, and for its length, I think a little too much time is spent setting up the book before things really start happening, but it's nice that things aren't being dragged out interminably, too. Too many series don't have enough content to really justify them.
I'm glad you liked this one, Wendy! Unfortunately, I'm not enjoying it as much so far, so I'm hoping it improves. *fingers crossed* I'm looking forward to your review though! :)
How far along are you, Keertana? I thought the MC was a bit of a brat at first (and some of the dialogue was very juvenile for a 17-year-old), but that drops awhile down the road.Look forward to comparing notes! Although I'm sure you'll get your review posted before I do, hah.
I so agree, it feels like every book I pick up lately is a trilogy and so often lately that just seems to be an excuse to drag out the story. On a completely selfish note, I seem to be forever cursed to find them when the first book is about to be published. Patience may be a virtue, but it is not one of mine. ;)
Yes, he's a lovely, slinky thing, Kyle. :) There are some pretty good animal scenes in this book, which is part of what I like about it.I don't like having to wait for book installments, too, Ceilidh. But I HATE it when you wait and then the book is disappointing. I agree with your "excuse to drag out the story" thing. Sometimes it's better to be a standalone or even just two books. What's wrong with a book and just one sequel? Nothing, that's what.

I doubt I'll get my review up before you, Wendy! I'm a little behind on them at the moment, not to mention I haven't finished this one yet. I'm nearing the half-way point of this at the moment, so I'm glad to see that Pia improves as the novel progresses. I definitely find that I'm liking her more now, although the romance is still going to take some warming up to I think. Like you, I'm extremely impressed with the amount of research that has been put into this story and I love the scientific tid-bits about DNA. It's all very well thought out and realistic, so I think I'll like the novel better from here on out. I'll keep you posted! :)
Also, she doesn't ride the jaguar? Darn! I was so looking forward to a scene like that! -.- Perhaps there'll be a short novella where she does ride her...or, I guess that's what fanfiction is for, right? ;)
Keertana, it took me awhile to warm up to the romance, too. I didn't hate it at first or anything, but she did become smitten rather quickly. Still, since she'd never seen a boy before, I kinda figured we had to let that slide. ;) The romance is better later on for sure--I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it a bit more now!DUDE. I love Harold & Kumar. Clearly we need to get Jeesica Khoury to watch it. :D
If you're wondering how it would work, this video has a nice visual:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkJWmm...
Oh, the logistics aren't my job, Ferret. I just wanna go on the ride. ;)But perhaps this will convince you anything is possible!

Oh man that was funny, they do look like they're having fun.
I'm with you on the whole riding a jaguar thing. How could one possibly resist the temptation? I think I'll read this one for the settings. I'm a sucker for interesting settings, especially if it's set in the jungle. Would probably explain why I'm enjoying Tiger's Curse so much. That said, I'm happy to hear this is a standalone. I'm so fed up with the whole trilogy and book series vibe that just won't seem to die down.
It does have a nice jungly setting--it's more descriptive than I expected. I would say the plot is not terribly complicated, but I don't really mind that as long as other things are done well/interesting, and the story was engaging to me. But I'm glad you understand about riding the jaguar! I don't get how you can have one and not even try, hah.

Exactly!
