A woman is hired by a family member to expose a minister of a supposed adulterous affair, but then a murder occurs, and then someone else in the family hires her to solve the murder. Behind all of this is an attempt to bring down the church. The woman detective is not likable at all. She wise-cracks too much, even in her thoughts. As for the Book Club title, which led me to the book in the first place, I found the ‘club’ not to have much to do with the story line.
