This is one of my father's favorite science fiction books, but for me it ended up being a bit too mathematical and realistic at times. I thought the last 50 pages were great however as you realize what the cloud really is and they start to communicate with it. I did like that it was written by a real atronomer, that in fact the science was real "theoretically" and he is the person who coined the phrase the "Big Bang." Interesting to read a historic sf book.
