A quite enjoyable read from Hayden Thorne, someone I've grown to learn has a real knack for stories such as these where the prose relies on narration and storytelling. Written like a fairy-tale, though more of a YA historical fantasy, this story has the feel of a oppressive radical government, a la The Hunger Games, and with a sweet, honorable, and steely young hero at the moment he reaches adulthood. It's a nice little short typical in the style of Hayden Thorne's YA stories that I've grown to really enjoy reading.

John Sigh, I do love her books. Desmond and Garrick is probably my favorite, but it's hard to pick just one.

Yeah, she's great isn't she? Desmond and Garrick was so funny. And here I am still not having read the second half! Shame...
