Pal Book Review

In Capturing the Silken Thief, Jeannie Lin gives readers a beautiful romance set in Imperial China.

Cheng is a scholar studying for the Imperial exams to create a better life for his family back home in the province.

Jia is an indentured pipa player searching to find a way to buy her freedom.

Through a case of mistaken identity the two are brought together in the search for the journal of Xue Lin, which Jia believes is the key to her freedom.

While working together, Cheng and Jia form an unbreakable bond, and each try to move heaven and earth to help the other find their dreams.

Jeannie Lin’s lyrical writing captures a strong heroine and an honest hero as they work to better their lives. By the end of this short novella the happily ever after feels real and the reader can walk away knowing the characters are completely satisfied.
