This is surely one of the best of the series. The killer is unusual to say the least. As he brutally slays and then scalps one victim after another the pressure to apprehend this serial killer mounts.
Kurt Wallender does his usal masterful assembling (with his team) of all the evidence and also uses his superb policeman's insight and instincts. He misses nothing. Whether it is somethng his subconscious has stored or something "off" in a statement Kurt will eventually put it all together.
An interesting side of all the Scandinavian and particularly the Swedish mystery writers narratives is the ongoing polital lessons about the changes in these countries.
I consider myself an afficianado of the genre and Mankell's Wallender is one of the very best detectives ever.
