really liked it

I understood the basic principles behind this book and agreed with them, yet when I read it, I was shocked at how defensive I found myself being. As someone with an avoidant attachment style(albeit a fearful type, rather than a dismissive type), I kept thinking, with a kind of grim, angry annoyance, that this style of relating provided the perfect vehicle for a demanding, manipulative anxious/ambivalent type whose primary goal was to get all their own particular needs met. [NOTE: I was dating a man like that at the time, so this no doubt coloured my reaction.] Yet, intellectually, I knew my reaction was way out of whack. After much thought, I realized some very valuable things about myself- which, although painful, are important information for a relationship. I do wish, however, that she would write a book that dealt with those of us who have enormous difficulty with relationships, for whom EFT would be a huge challenge.

Adam I think in this case, actually having a round of EFT sessions would be a lot more beneficial than just reading the book. EFT is perfect for those who have "enormous difficulty" with relationships.
