I really couldn't get into this book. The author describes to you what his main chaacter, Dacon Chalk, does rather than actually involving the reader and it's hard to connect to such an uber efficent, monster killing, gun expert alpha male. It's also rather disconcerting to read the character's physical description, then see the author's photo at the back of the book and realise he's described himself. I'm sure there are many who will love these books but I won't be picking up book 2 in the series. I loved the Monster Hunter International and while this is in the same vein I didn't enjoy it near as much.
