This installment was an interesting mix of several characters that had been introduced in the previous volumes. Barbie is transported to a dream world of her own (partial) creation. She must travel through unknown lands to find the mysterious and sinister Cuckoo.

In an effort to help Barbie, her friends and neighbors summon the power of the moon to travel to the Dream world. Unbeknownst to them, this unleashes a maelstrom of weather causing a hurricane to buffet New York City and the building where Barbie and her friends reside.

The installment follows Barbie’s travels and that of her friends as they wander through the imaginary land in Morpheus’s kingdom. A bit more occult oriented (in the sense that it is actually seen rather than referenced as before) and definitely quite bloody (the whole thing with George is a bit disturbing), this chapter in the Sandman series is probably the most fantasy-based segments so far.
