As the second book in the series, Stone of Tears is a fairly good read. Having read this one many times, I was a bit surprised to find myself realizing that the writing is a bit weak (at times). I think Goodkind was still finding his voice/writing style. But, the story line(s) are fantastic. I hate seeing Richard and Kahlan separated, but the particular event seems to be a recurring theme throughout the series. I had a lot of emotion invested in the story as I watched Richard struggle with who he is while traveling in the Old World as Kahlan fought to lead the Midlands to freedom from the Imperial Order. Once again, strong characters (especially strong women) dominate this story, but it is a page turner. I absolutely love Sister Verna. She is a breath of fresh air. I’d love to see a side story done about her someday.
