** spoiler alert ** This series gets better and better. I love how Nick is growing. He starts off completely oblivious, but now he can recognize some types of demons, cast some spells. Despite what all his teachers say, he can learn. More and more, he is growing into the malachai powers.

The ending wasn't as cliffhanger as most, but follows the pattern. The book ends with Nick learning something shocking about someone he knows.

One little thing bugged me, and here is where this post goes into spoiler territory. Nick is accused of two crimes--robbery and rape. He is able to prove that the rape was a total lie, no one attacked the character in question, but he was caught on video doing the robbery. We never found out if the was video tampered with (by man or demon), or if he was possessed (since demons are doing that throughout the story, and he was asleep at the time), or what happened. It's a forgotten plot point. Perhaps the next book will bring it up?

Overall, a fabulous read. Fans of the series will love this one. Now when is book four coming out?
