philip, philip, philip. this character has driven me crazy. he keeps screwing up, but i have such high hopes for him, but he's such an idiot, and also a decent fella. mostly i just want to stand alongside him, chuck him on the arm, smile, and shake my head. thing is, he keeps waiting for his life to start, but it's been happening all around him the whole darn time and he's been missing it. (pretty relatable.) it's a boy-to-man journey that really drew me in, despite the simple plot format of one-man's-life. this is the kind of book i don't just want to read; i want to discuss it.
