Young Stuart moves with his (clueless, benignly self absorbed) parents to the small town his father's family is from. New in town and friendless, Stuart explores his Great Uncle's abandoned house and finds to his great surprise that his dad's uncle is a famous magician who has left a mystery for the right clever young boy to solve. Stuart decides this is intriguing and finds himself in a race with a nasty adversary to find his uncle's lost miraculous mechanism workshop. In the course of his investigation he finds new friends and a new sense of who he is and might become.
