it was amazing
bookshelves: mystery, tv

It's gotta be Andrew, right? Andrew and Terri? Andrew and Tom? Whoever you are, Richard Castle, I've never been so in awe and admittedly, so jealous of someone's writing skills. It may seem strange to an outsider, but what sounds like a marketing gimmick is actually one of the most well-written series of all time. While normally any sort of media tie-in would use a B-plot (or D-plot, in the case of Derrick Storm), the stories of Nikki Heat are so amazing that I found myself wishing they were episodes of Castle. Speaking of, the profanity in their dialogue was so fitting - just one more reason this show needs to move to paid cable! The countless subtle throwbacks to the show in every chapter are clever and skillful - not at all corny, and really, not even something the non-Castle fan (yes, they exist) would pick up on. Famous Ray's, the Fist of Capitalism, pulling my pigtails, ruggedly handsome, handcuffs, Atlantic City Elvis... and that's just of the top of my head. Plus the dedication alone is worth double the price of the book.
