Partials (Partials, #1)

I was on the fence about giving this book three or four stars. I waited a day to think about it. I gave it three stars.
I mean, I liked it, that's what three stars means, I liked it.
This is one of those books where I can't decide if the author is an idiot or a genius. I'm not leaning to genius at the moment, that I'll say.
Okay here goes.
What I liked: The setting. I live close to many landmarks described here, the hospital, the coliseum! So that was super cool to me! Doesn't long Island sound AMAZING guys (btw we DO have 300000000 strip malls!) (also, there is really not that many mansions- this book made it sound like all of the north shore is mansions with private docks. Not so. Some of it, yes, mansions where the guest house is three times the size of my average sized house. ) And the weird town names? They're native american. its not that bad, it's nice. (I went to upstate NY recently and the towns had names like "Deposit" That's bad) Okay, I'll stop ranting now.
The premise: Partials with the virus and everything, very cool and relatively believable. I want to stressed this point. *stresses point* Good. Point stressed.
The science: I'm a bio nerd, lol, so this was cool. This part of it was awesome
The descriptions: These were very well written!
What I didn't like: Prepare for a rant.
The characters!!!!!! Okay, here we go. They were all almost the same, there was too many to keep tack of, they seemed too ready to die for their cause, they had such terrible names! Rule of writing: Name your main character something interesting so we remember them. name your secondary characters something more normal so we don't get hopelessly confused. I mean, Xochi? Isolde? Jayden? Too weird. Samm was good, because it was common enough to not be confused but weird enough to remember him. And then the main character was 'Kira' really? What a normal and frankly boring name! ZZZZZZ
Kira: Annoyed me to no end. (view spoiler)
Action scenes: In my humble opinion, these action scenes were terrible. Just plain terrible. Could not tell what was going on for the life of me! Also, they war fairly unbelievable ((((Building collapse, storm on the ocean, her getting electrocuted))))
Romance: team Marcus!!! (yes I know Samm isn't really part of the love triangle, but you can tell, that he wants to be even though he's not human.)
