liked it

I listened to this one in preparation for Maupin's Pen and Podium appearance, and found it charming. I loved the characters, loved the way it was set so sincerely in the midst of the mid-70s in San Francisco, and liked the way the plot wove around, however unrealistic it might have been in some ways. I watched the mini-series afterward, and it made me realize how excellent Maupin's dialogue is -- the mini-series used it, word for word, from the book, which was amazing. Nice candy that made me feel young.
