it was ok

Not a bad read. In some ways I really enjoyed it. Form a historical perspective, it shows the bias of an age and the perceptions of the early 20th century. If you overlook this it is enjoyable.

There are much better examples to read first. Sherlock Holmes is perhaps the best of the genera, I also put Edgar Rice Burrows in here too.

My biggest criticism lies with the cliffhanger nature of the story. I did like the forbidden romance aspect of the British man falling for an Egyptian slave girl. I am not much of a romantic, but I liked the way it brought a little depth the caricatures.
