bookshelves: novels, slavery, science-fiction, american-literature
Read from April 02 to 22, 2012

Although I don’t like science fiction novels, this one was different , Time was an important factor in this one it left its marks on Dana s body and soul,Time damages as well as heals.....
It portrays the horrors of slavery , the loss of humanity.the torturing, the fear of family separation if one of them is sold,
Dana experienced being lashed for nothing ,offenses, beating, The exhausting work in the plantation ....
Octavia doesn’t.make Dana only witnessed all the suffering that all slaves have gone through, there was a high price she would pay even it wasnt her desire to travel by time ......
It wasn’t that simple when she traveled by time every thing permanently changed in her life and her husband life .......
Even in her time travel their was a disturbing and annoying symptoms like her dizziness that announce the begin of her next trip.....
I think this novel has so many symbolism
Dana ’s scars and her arm loss...
The names of Alice’s children are symbolic of the freedom....
Fear the main bond between Dana and Rufus ,once he is afraid it is Dana who are near to help him...
And for Dana her deep and real fear is the only way she can get back home......
