Sarah Honenberger I found it a little too incredible, but it certainly held your attention. As a fiction writer myself, I had a hard time because the point of view of the child was too adult. Explained by author but still more contrived than I found believable. Try Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson (author of Gilead, a Pulitzer Prize winner) and you'll see what I mean by a more believable incredible childhood story.

Jennifer Thanks Sarah! Housekeeping is now on my "To Read" list...

As an educator, reading from the point-of-view of a child always interests me. It reminds me of the keen insight that children can have and about the judgements they are able to make. I understand your point about how such a point of view can sound too adult - however - the perception of children always amazes me.
