I got about halfway through this book and could no longer read it. I just don't like the way Masha Gessen writes. I have attempted to read some of her other books and it's always the same problem. She's more of a journalist than an author and so the writing is factual with no essence.

Jennifer Ciotta Gail, I see where you're coming from, but I do respect Gessen for her bravery and journalistic research. If you would like an entertaining read about Putin, actually a completely different style and view than Gessen, may I suggest my novel "I, Putin"? You may enjoy it! Best wishes, Jennifer Ciotta
