I really enjoyed this book, but the final third was easily its weakest point. Everything was wrapped up in a neat bow, which made me sad, since this book up to that point seemed to eschew the type of easy answers that one might have expected of a lesser book. Lily was terrorized when she went missing; Lauren wasn't an awful person whose misfortune we might have basked in; Neville's mother wasn't an evil woman, merely a realistic person who was familiar with the workings of their society. And then Ms. Balogh had to go and have the bad guy taken care of offstage (always a bad idea), and wouldn't you know it, Lily's actually the daughter of a duke! That's okay then. While I did like the way that Lily and Lyndon's relationship progressed after the revelation, I didn't ever love the storyline.

Not a terrible book, but a disappointment, because it could have been much better.
