A ceremonial wedding ring burial thrown by her best friend, Ellie, sets the stage for Lillian Duncan Grace, a divorced mother of three, to finally start to let go of her past. The arrival of a handsome high school drama teacher to her small town and the knowledge that her ex-husband is getting remarried are further incentives for her to move on with her life.

Lilly had started her own business, Mom by the Minute, five years prior when her then-husband was working long hours as a pilot and rarely home. Her business is thriving, so she’s hired two of her friends for part-time positions. This frees her up to take a job for former high school drama teacher, Mrs. Genevieve Teabrugge. Lilly soon discovers Jagger Davis has come home to care for his ailing Aunt Vieve in addition to having taken over her job at the school.

Mrs. Teabrugge hires Lilly to clean out the possessions of her late husband, William. Feeling she’s an outsider, who his aunt shouldn’t have hired, Jagger isn’t pleased. Will Lilly be able to overcome the opposition she faces from Jagger and, if so, will spending time together bring the both of them closer?

The Prince at the Corner Bakery is an enchanting story about a woman who was forced to piece her life back together. Author Leta Gail Doerr has crafted a believable account of how difficult life can be juggling single parenthood, running a business, and tackling other responsibilities. Far from being a heavy and depressing read, this is a lighthearted story of hope. Lilly doesn’t always have it together, but with the support of her good friends and the possibility of a renewed love life she knows she’ll be fine.
