really liked it
bookshelves: chapter-books, classroom-library

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is the first book in the Dear Dumb Diary series. This book is intended for elementary aged girls in terms of content and language. It is written from the perspective of a young female student who is dealing with her friends, family, dog, and arch nemesis: Angeline. The Dear Dumb Diary series moves at a steady pace with a believable and relatable voice. The issues covered throughout the series are issues that many female students will face.
I would definitely recommend having these books in a classroom library for upper elementary students, or any student who is at a chapter book level. The language is straight-forward without being condescending. Each book is short enough to not be too intimidating. The illustrations and cover art are both attractive to students. These books are not particularly high-quality, but they may be what some students need in order to become better readers.
