I've seen plenty of series that just couldn't keep things together past three or four books. This is not one of those series - book seven and it's still going strong - plot threads are closing, and things are definitely heading towards a serious series conclusion. As a standalone it's a bit weak, with pieces just sort of falling into place, but it feels like it's all in build up for bigger events to come.

The change of setting(Ireland) and mythology is a welcome change of pace, and I enjoyed the contrast between the cosmology we're used to from previous books and what is featured here, it gives the world a sense of huge-ness.
